Ask HN: Has anyone decompiled Claude Code yet?

I’d be interested in examining it. How about codex?

It's probably easier to look at the source code than try to decompile it: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code

There is no actual Claude Code source code in there, if you actually look in the repo.

Too old, probably no mainline code lines in there

You'll get blocked real quick. I once noticed it was thinking in a different language than the one we were communicating in, when I asked about it the conversation was immediately blocked.

Have codex run claude code and decompile

What a paradox. Somehow anthropic don't like distillation and decompiling and ban all who try instantly.

For Codex there is no need to decompile because unlike Claude Code, Codex is open source [1] and written in Rust.

There are lot of other amazing open source agent harnesses like OpenCode [2] and Pi [3].

Yeah but I wanna see Claude code source. Maybe I’ll use codex to decompile Claude code if I can’t find it done already

Only the Codex terminal agent is open source, the Codex GUI app is still closed AFAIK.
