Ask HN: Help My Sanity
2 points by jeffdico •
I have been applying for jobs since this year, and I have been hanging in by the threads. For the past 7 years I have been doing freelance work, and it's been great until the AI boom.

I am a software developer with 13 years of experience, and this year is the first time I am getting frustrated with my career. I have no money to help myself or my family. I have this little space in my house that can help me start up a small chicken poultry farm, but I have no funds for it. All my savings exhausted.

If I can raise 2k usd, that should be enough to get me started with 200 layer birds. I believe that this startup capital will keep me engaged and also help me provide for my family going forward. It's looking like tech will no longer be the dream job as it used to be.

I am sorry for bringing this here, The people around me cannot help give me the loan I need, and banks will not give it to me if there is no history of my activity doing farming. Any help or job will be appreciated.

Thanks alot.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Even if it's doesn't look like an opportunity depending on your field as a freelance, opportunities still exists. Yes AI is booming and "replacing" a lot of tasks we can do, but the reality is with your experience on your field you have more value to bring on the table, than you think. AI is great for a lot of think as long as the user know how to use it. And guess what your experience (7 years) make you an expert or a master in your fields, you probably have deal with more issues than a lambda user, that's your value, while user and Ai have the theory you have the human experience part, which will help you to be one step ahead. I am not saying it's easy, and I don't your specific field, but 7 years in any field make you a valuable asset. You just have to change the way your specific talent work hand to hand with the AI. That's the key, don't give up or fight it, use it for what is a tool to make YOUR life and your client Product better and quicker. Hope that's help, just my 2 cents.
